In GemShine we are very aware of our obligations towards the environment and of our ethical and moral responsibility in the production and distribution of jewellery. We therefore are producing all our Diamond jewellery exclusively with members of the De Beers Carat Club.
De Beers has made public the 'Ethical and Behavioural Guidelines' for Diamond production and trading, which we fully subscribe.
The De Beers Guidelines were made public after the strategic revision done by this company in 1999, in which it manifested the duty of the company towards the trust the consumer had shown over time as well as towards the preservation of the mystical halo of natural and treated Diamonds, counterfeighting everything that might damage the good name of the industry.
Thanks to the speed of global communications, consumers are aware of potential problems to the integrity of Diamonds. If we add to this the existence of new technologies that permit the modification or alteration the gems, the result is that consumers need to be sure about the fact that the Diamonds they are buying are natural -as opposed to synthetic - and that they have not been manipulated in any way.
It is also vital that our customers can be absolutely sure of, among other
things, that the Diamonds they buy:
- Do not come from areas in which they could support conflicts
- Are not related whatsoever with child labour
- Are not connected to harmful or dangerous practices, which could affect the
health or well-being of people
The implementation and follow-up of these 'Ethical and Behavioural Guidelines' of the DTC (Diamond Trading Company - De Beers Group) will insure Diamond jewellery customers of the fact that they can fully trust the ethical standards of the industry.
